Every few years, amidst the Let There Be Bloods and Atonements of the movie world, there is an epic wild sex and booze teen comedy for those of us who still find farting hilarious. Following the Animal House and American Pie tradition, College follows a group of high school seniors on one wild weekend visiting the nearby fictional Fieldmont College on a quest for wild parties and wilder girls. Camille Mana, who plays wild sorority girl Heather, dished to FHM about making a wild party movies and making out with underage actors.
This movie looks really funny, was it a fun movie to make?
Yeah, we were in New Orleans for 6 weeks, and it’s a really young cast. We all kind of partied a lot. I guess the movie’s all about partying too, so on-screen and off it was pretty debaucherous.
How was shooting a party movie in New Orleans?
When we got there, it was the end of Fat Tuesday. There were people passed out in the street outside the hotel when we arrived. I was like, ‘Wow, is it going to be like this everyday?’
A lot of stuff is faked in party movies, you dance with no music, and have to drink fake beer. What did you have to fake in this movie?
There was this one back yard party scene where there’s like hundreds of extras and girls in cages on this stage where the live band was playing. Basically, it’s mayhem. I should plug this, since it’s FHM, there’s naked girls together in cages. It is that strange element of there’s not really music playing, and you’re not really drunk. I guess the girls were all very naked, so that was very real.
Who was the biggest party animal on the cast?
There was one guy who played the character named Bearcat in the movie. As you might have seen from the red band clips online, he gets completely naked, and he’s all coated with body hair. All the boys do body shots off of him. It turned into an ordeal, because these three boys all had to drink alcohol out of his buttcrack and all kind of unpleasant areas. The scenes are hilarious, and I think that shooting those scenes actually turned into a real party.
Was all that body hair real?
No, unfortunately for that actor, a lot of it was glued on, in many uncomfortable places, and he had to stay like that all day. Luckily I dodged a bullet on most of that stuff. My uncomfortable scenes just involved making out with Chicken Little from American Idol [Kevin Covais] and getting into uncomfortable situations. He’s a minor, so that was interesting.
Is it harder to make out with someone who looks kind of nerdy?
He’s quite a loveable kid, I totally had fun making out with him. It was kind of uncomfortable because his parents were on set the entire time. I wanted to make sure they were comfortable because I am an older woman for him. The scene that appears in the trailer, I remember when we were shooting it, the director asked if Kevin needed a cup, like an athletic cup. He didn’t think he needed one, but I asked for my comfort to wear one, so he didn’t get too cozy, but it was fun. He’s kind of a nerd, but he’s a lovable nerd. It’s kind of endearing.
College is in theaters now.
