Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol

What's it about? First appearing in 1963s My Greatest Adventure, this hit series has proven both timeless and underground. Despite its lack of mainstream fame this series has all the conjoinables of a classic. The series story-line is so varied and creative the whole affair is like one giant acid trip. Regularity can be found in the team consisting of a Robotman with the brain of ex-NASCAR driver Cliffe Steele, psychitzo Crazy Jane, part-corporeal part-ethereal man-woman Rebis and team leader Doctor Niles Caulder. They recruit a living street while battling enemies like reality cutting crazies The Scissormen. Any further explanation would require a psychotic break.

Why is it good? This IS originality. The story manages to be dark and complex while still maintaining a light-heatred appeal. In all the madness Robotman acts as a sane character the audience are viewing the event through, making you feel bonded and deeply embedded in the adventures. It features a character called The Quiz who has literally every power you haven't thought of. Turning people into toilets filled with flowers? - Got that one too.

Why it should be a movie: Team based movies mean more super powers for your ticket price. This crazy trip of a comic allows free reign over the eyes and minds of the audience. Think Fear And Loathing with super-powers.
