What’s it about? JJ Abrams brings the fanboy series back to life with a prequel film to the original series. The exact plot has been kept under wraps, but we’re told that Leonard Nimoy will make a cameo as older Spock who will meet himself via time travel.

Why are excited? Superb casting: Heroes’ Zachery Quinto as Spock, Eric Bana as Nero, Harold and Kumar’s John Cho as Sulu,  and our favorite Simon Pegg as Scotty. Best of all, they didn’t stunt cast Kirk, instead going with the relatively unknown Chris Pine, who was cast over Matt Damon.

When can I see it? Star Trek should be one of the biggest films of Summer 2009. Rumor has it, it will open May 8, 2009.
