Anna Friel could easily have ended up as an attorney. But that would have been a damn shame (and a tragic oversight). Instead, after her career was launched with an infamous lesbian kiss on British soap opera, Brookside, Friel has enjoyed a successful – if understated career.

Championing the ‘freckly cute but certifiably feisty’ niche, Friel has won critical acclaim both on Broadway and in Hollywood. And also starred in a handful of under-the-radar B-movies.

And all this before she picked up a Golden Globe for her lead role in ABC comedy-drama Pushing Daisies. The reason to watch it if you're not already? Anna Friel’s large, expressive eyes. Obviously.
